I find joy in helping people work towards a rich and fulfilling life, despite any obstacles they may face.

What to Expect

Seeing a new psychologist can be daunting, especially if it’s the first time you have done this, but I want you to know that help and hope are available.

During your initial sessions with me, we'll focus on understanding your current difficulties and what you want to change in your life. We will work together to clarify your goals and develop a treatment plan before working on your goals together.

As a Clinical Psychologist, I use various evidence-based therapeutic approaches. This usually includes the use of cognitive, behavioural, attachment, relationship-based, compassionate, and mindfulness-based approaches. Along the way, please feel free to ask questions, as our work together will be highly collaborative.

As part of the therapeutic process, I will regularly check in with you and ask you to provide feedback.

The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important components of therapy (even more important than which model or type of therapy is used). I place a strong emphasis on connection, rapport, and building trust. However, it is normal for it to take several sessions to develop trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship.

I will tailor my therapeutic approach to your needs. So sessions may include: exploring your thoughts, feelings, and actions; working through challenging life events; processing previous trauma; developing a better understanding of yourself and others; developing important skills; and working toward making changes.

I may suggest tasks for you to try between appointments, such as reading materials, practicing skills, and reflecting on your sessions. You may also like to keep a journal and note important insights and takeaways from your sessions, as this can help your progress in therapy.

In the final sessions, we will work on reviewing the gains you have made in therapy and creating a plan to help you maintain the progress you have made.

We are a private service and do not currently offer bulk billing. See Medicare rebate information below.

Rebates & Insurance

  • Currently, the Medicare rebate provided is $141.85, this leaves a gap fee of $108.15 on Medicare Rebated Sessions. (Your rebate may be higher if your Medicare safety net has been reached for the year.)

To obtain this, you will need to provide a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral letter from your General Practitioner, or a referral letter from your Psychiatrist, prior to your appointment.

From 1st January 2023, individuals can access a maximum of 10 Medicare rebated sessions per calendar year.

  • Many Private Health Insurers provide a rebate of $40-$80 for those with extras cover. Check with your health insurer for details.

We can provide a receipt of services following your session.

  • If you are self-managed or plan managed, please call or contact us to discuss your referral further.

We are not able to accept NDIA-managed referrals.

  • We do not accept Work Cover or TAC referrals.

We do not provide medico-legal assessments or reports.

  • Contact me for information on group work and organisational consultation fees.

COVID-19 Guidelines

We are required to comply with any COVID-19 guidelines as set by the government, which are often more stringent in healthcare settings (e.g. at times masks may be required for face-to-face sessions, even if not mandated in the community or public settings).

If you are feeling unwell leading up to your appointment, or on the day, please let us know, and we can either reschedule your appointment or change to a telehealth consult. Your therapist will also do the same in the event that they are unwell.
